The Honey Cowl is one of our favourite patterns for beginner knitters who know how to knit and purl. Well, this cowl is fantastic for any knitter, really! It's the ideal pattern for speckled and variegated yarn, and it doesn't take you too long to make. Deb has made two and Janine one... so far! The cowl was designed for Tosh DK so we've put together some yarn kits so you also can knit this beautiful cowl.
A simple slip stitch pattern cowl creates a dense waffle-like fabric for warmth and supple drape. This flexible pattern can be worked in four different sizes using just one or two skeins of yarn. Both short and longer versions are lovely viewed on both sides. This cowl is perfect for a bright pop of color and a warm hug around your neck. Kit includes:
- Two skeins of Tosh DK
- Honey Cowl Pattern
Two skeins allows you to make the longer version, which is our favourite. You can wear it long or wrap it twice around your neck for when it's a bit cooler.
Short version: 55cm length
Long version: 110cm length
You'll also need (not included):
- 5mm 80 cm long circular needle for the long version.
- 5mm 40cm-long circular needle for the short version.
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
About Madelinetosh Tosh DK
Madelinetosh Tosh DK is made up of 4 twisted strands (plys) of 100% superwash merino wool. This versatile, plump,woolly yarn knits and crochets into luxurious fabrics with wonderful stitch definition, perfect for gorgeous, squishy scarves, shawls and garments. Each incredibly soft skein is hand-dyed in small dye lots and there is a beautiful range of colours to choose from!
- 8ply / DK / light worsted weight yarn
- 100% superwash merino wool
- 205m / 225yd per 100g skein
- Gauge knit: 20-22sts per 10cm on 4mm-4.5mm needles
- Gauge crochet: 12-17sts per 10 cm with a 4.5mm-5.5mm hook
- Care: Machine wash cold on gentle cycle, air dry flat
Dyed by hand in Texas from wool ethically sourced in South Africa.
Please note: Dyed by hand in small batches, Madelinetosh yarns do not come in dye lots. The beauty of hand-dyed yarns is that each hank is a unique work of art, so please be aware that there can be a variation in colouring, hue and saturation, even within the same dye batch. We suggest using two skeins and alternating rows to ensure there is no obvious line when you change skeins.
